Trent 7000 : 4 Engines, 4 days

In October 2024, our Engine Division was tasked by two client airlines with a dual engine replacement on their respective Airbus A330neo aircraft. The challenge was heightened by tight scheduling constraints: hangar availability and flight schedules left us with a single, non-negotiable four-day window. The mission? Completing four engine replacements in just four days.

Operations of this scale require meticulous preparation. Thanks to our rigorous standards and the experience gained from nearly 50 engine change this year, we were fully prepared to meet the challenge.

To kick off preparations, the Engine Division team began anticipating the necessary parts and consumables, in collaboration with the client, in order to be ready for everything.

At the start of the a maintenance intervention, the managers coordinated the operation like true conductors, while technicians deployed their expertise with meticulous care. Role distribution was critical, especially in this high-pressure context. On the first day, following a full borescope inspection of both engines conducted by our Support Division, we proceeded to remove and reinstall the first engine and remove the second.

On day two, as we finalized work on the first aircraft inside the hangar, it was moved outside for runway tests. Meanwhile, the second aircraft took its place, allowing us to seamlessly transition without losing a single minute. By the end of the second day, we had removed the first engine from the second aircraft.

Day three saw us maintain the momentum: the first engine was reinstalled, and the next was replaced.

On day four, with the same controlled rhythm, the final operations and tests were successfully completed, marking the end of the dual project.

This extraordinary project was delivered on time, a true first, achieved in record time. Never before had an operation of this scale been carried out on two Airbus A330s in just four days. Despite the significant scheduling and hangar availability constraints, our Engine Division and Support Division teams rose to the challenge with remarkable mastery. This success is a testament to their vast experience and seamless on-site coordination.
